I am searching for a John More/Moore who was born in 1789 in a part of New York which became Vermont in 1791. He was from Rutland Co. Vermont. He married an Althea Cole daughter of Ezra Cole and Althea Capron. He was in the War of 1812 and fought in battle of Lundy Lane, Sackett's Harbor & Chippewa. Their family later moved west to Medina, Ohio and finally settled in Libertyville, Illinois. John had a brother James More was also fought in the War of 1812. I am looking for John and James's parents or siblings and am having trouble finding out where they were born with the New York/Vermont thing. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks Dianne

Hi Dianne. I don't know if we've corresponded or not....I can't recall. Henry Cole married Althea Capron, not Ezra. Ezra Cole had several children, none of whom were named Althea. I can check his granddaughter's though, to see if they did. If you'd like info on this family, please let me know, and whether or not I've already sent it on to you.
