Other News

A fire broke out in the old Paige Store at Center Rutland on

Tuesday evening last at about 9:30 o'clock, and the building, together with

the adjoining residence, was entirely consumed.  The Rutland

Fire Department was promptly on the ground, but the fire had

made such headway that it was impossible to save the store, yet

they done (sic) good service on saving the adjacent

buildings.  The building burned was owned and occupied by

John McNamara as a residence, and J. Patterson, as a country

store and residence. Mr. Patterson's loss is about $2,000, which

is covered by insurance.
